Super Model of Asia Pacific, would like to invite you to a fantastic Charity Fashion Show at Dream Hotel.
Over 25 models from the Asia Pacific Region will be featured in a swimwear and evening gown fashion show.
The models also bring souvenirs for an auction. Proceeds from the show will go to Channel 9’s chosen charity to support the northern people who have been affected from the water flood.
A few years ago it was very popular to be a half foreigner and half Thai and before that a foreign model was unthinkable. Now something even worse have happen and that is that the dark skinned models from North East Thailand have started to become popular as models and TV stars. A few years you could not even go on TV if you had dark skin but time changes and now it is pretty cool to come from North East Thailand have dark skin.
On the model and catwalk scene it is still pretty rare and most catwalk models are from Eastern Europe and most of them live around Rama 4 in Bangkok. They work for a very small salary and the only benefits really are that they get photos and can drink free on all the models night different night clubs have.
Many catwalk shows do not use the Thai super models since they are overpriced Thai standards they maybe hire one to get some TV coverage and then rest will be lower class models and East European. In 2009 a fashion show in Phuket said they have hired all the top models and then they canceled the week before the show and used foreign models instead.
The good think with being a model in Thailand is that there is always loads of work, any promotion of a new product has some kind of short fashion show. For example if the promote a new food they make some funny looking clothing of food and do a catwalk of them. It is like a concept in Thailand every party needs a fashion show and there is nothing you can do to change that.
In Thailand you have super models, models, pretty girls, car show girls, beer girls and the show girls. The Thai Pretty Girls are too short to be real models but they are still cute so they can be used for covers or present something. They usually work for company that when needed provide the Thai girls for the occasion. I am sure you seen it on Thai TV or magazine when a product do a new launch of a product it is always a cute Thai girl that is holding the mobile phone or whatever they are promoting, that is a Thai pretty girl.
The most beautiful pretty girls will present the most expensive things and some will be that special product for a year or something. The Thai pretty girls are all very young and the life span is very short because they need to be pretty and cute not beautiful like a model. If they still want to work as a pretty girl when they get older they can have a career as a beer girl promoting beer in the local disco or selling alcohol in Tesco lotus. All big super markets have at least one older pretty girl working in the alcohol section trying to promote different brands to customers.
If they are too ugly to even to do that they will end up promoting juice or skin cream in your local supermarkets.
